About the EPA RRP Rule
The Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule was passed to protect
children in target housing from lead poisoning. Although lead based paints were
banned by 1978, the problems still exist.
December 22, 2008
- Contractors or
Landlords working on Pre-1978 buildings must begin distributing the new
pamphlet from EPA.

October 22, 2009
- EPA will begin
accepting applications to become "Certified Firm". Apply
early, it may take 90 days to get your Certification. Click on the link
below. The form can not be saved. Print two copies and send one with your
$300.00 payment to the EPA.

- The EPA has suggested the removal of the Color Verification card for clearance.
- The EPA is recommending dust sampling upon completion of work.
- The date for Public Comment has not been determined. As soon as it is we will post a link for
you to submit your opinion.
April 22, 2010
- Only "Certified Firms" using "Certified Renovators" may advertise to work
on or work on homes and units built prior to 1978.
- The Opt-out clause will be removed from the final rule.

- Color Verification card may be eliminated. If so, final clearance may only be done with laboratory wipe samples collected by a Certified Dust Technician, Inspector or Risk Assessor
